I redid my six5 AR last week.  Got some cerakoted parts for it.  Turned out pretty good.  Now I just need to finish converting my batch of brass and get a good load worked up.  Bushnell LRHS 3-12.

Going to shoot Hornady 123 grain SSTs out of it.  I am hoping to reach close to 2500 fps with them.  Harrison's load data on the AR15perfomance site shows close to that.  But most say that load data is exaggerated a bit.  So we will see.

Without looking I think my boxes of Hornady 6.5 129 SST Superformance claim 2950. That’s probably out of a 24” test barrel. My rifle has a 24” barrel but I don’t have a chronograph. Most likely overstated.

2500 is a bit much for that case if I remember correctly, but I have really played with it.

Is that a 16" barrel?

I use Hornady factory ammo as a yardstick for roughly where I want to be in terms of velocity and I usually get 2420-2460 fps out of a 16" Grendel barrel and about 60-70 for more out of an 18" tube.

With Six5 having similar case capacity, you should be getting the same basic velocities.

He claims you can push it harder due to a stronger bolt, but I do not know if I would get too ambitious.

I am not convinced that extra free fps are worth it.

Yes 16".  I am not one to push load limits, brass is to expensive to ruin in 1 or 2 loadings.  As I said, we will see.  I have only play with it a little bit so far.

I bought a brand new BCG for it and started working on loads a while back and it no matter what load I used it would not cycle and load another round.  I was stumped for a while.  Finally took the bolt apart and there were no rings on the bolt.  I put 3 on it but have not shot is since.
