In my quest for the perfect set up for my 2 308's, I have settled on some 168 Berger Classic Hunters.
I also have some 168 Nosler BT's, Hornady 178 ELD-X, and 165 BTSP to tinker with. Powders are CFE223, BL-C(2), and IMR 4064. I have many different cases to choose from, PMC, Hornady, Hornady Match, Winchester, Remington..... I am sure I even have some small primer cases. I got data from Berger, they are listing a max charge at about 2 grains less than Nosler, or Hogden. Nosler is 165/168, and Hogdon comparison bullet for me is a Barnes TTSX. Anyone got a pet recipe? I can't wait to see what these Berger's will do.

In my experience be careful with Nosler and Hodgdon data. I have had near case ruptures using their data and I was below their max listings. Start 15 to 20% below what they list as max, the 10% typical recommendation has not been great for me.

What is interesting is Berger is claiming nearly identical velocity with 2 grains less powder.
They recommended I pick a powder that gives me 95% case fill capacity for best accuracy. |
