That type of binocular was used—in large quantities—from the early 19th Century until after the First World War; Custer’s troops had ‘em, as did Pershing’s. The British battleship Dreadnaught” was the world’s first “modern” battleship. It was a product of 1906, so there is a good chance that the maker tried to capitalize on that like American auto companies capitalized on rockets and jets as hood orniments at the beginning of the jet age. The wrinkle finish hints of being military. However, most instruments created for the military had no such verbiage attached. If it has value, that stamp will probably be the most telling. Good luck.
Because of the poor quality, most are not worth much. I would be glad to sell you a much better specimen for $50 ... see? Bill |

Thanks for the info, Bill I knew nothing about them other than they’re old and may have been from around WWI.
So, you think they are military? That’s awesome! And exactly what I was hoping. Thanks again |

Don’t mean to spam my own post but do you think there is any chance of them being a fake/reproduction? They seem real to me and I don’t see someone taking the time to replicate one since they probably wouldn’t make much money.

Most military binos DID NOT have such a finish! However, the military did have a penchant for using wrinkle finish on things. With the name embossed, I really doubt they are military. Also, I think anyone trying to dupe the public by producing a knockoff probably died in the nut locker, as even the best were not very good. Would you like to buy a good, used “pet rock”? Cheers, Bill |

Oh ok, still cool to have something that’s so old!
Unfortunately I don’t have much money to buy binos right now but thanks for the offer. |
