I wasn't exactly sure where to put this post, but figured here would work. I just bought a couple new hunting packs. A Tenzing TZ2220 pack. https://www.tenzingoutdoors.com/tz-2220 And a Bandlands Pursuit pack. http://www.badlandspacks.com/gear/packs/pursuit-camo-day-pack I just got them last week, so have not had a chance to use them yet, but they both appear to be very nice packs. The Tenzing has a light weight light duty aluminum frame in it. That will be nice when carrying larger loads. It also has a pop out rifle/bow support bag that comes out the bottom. That could come in handy at times. Also a pop out rain cover that comes out the bottom. The Badlands pack is a lot smaller but should be great for a day pack when I don't need as much gear. I often hunt from light til dark and am out hiking and going most of the day. I also have a Eberlistock Gunslinger 2 that I use from time to time. It will be nice to have these options Depending upon my needs for the day. I will use them for scout for my elk hunt this year and during the hunt. Should both be great packs.

Looks like a couple of home runs Jason. The Tenzing you got looks interesting. I've been looking at their TZ1250 to replace my old Cabelas suspension fanny pack for awhile now. Checked out the Badlands Monster suspension pack years ago but wasn't impressed, funny because their other packs, like the Pursuit you got, seem to be great choices.

Nice looking packs. I especially like the TZ220. I probably wouldn't need that much pack for hunting around here, but I could see where it could come in handy if you were going to be out all day.

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Those look good. I've been pretty happy with my Kifaru, which has now been in use for 8 seasons. New, I might consider a Mystery Ranch (I have an awesome little biking/daypack made by them). But https://www.kuiu.com/hunting-backpacks-packs/ look most interesting to me.

Gun: check Ammo: check Knife: check Binos: check More: overkill What the hell are you doing with a pack? Is that where you keep your foil hat and tampons? Back when I was a kid...never mind. Carry on. |

The Kifaru is a serious pack, if you have that not sure you'll be satisfied with the Kuiu. I have the icon pro 1850, the good thing about the frame is it'll will work with all their ultra and pro bags.

Spotting scope, tripod, lunch, dinner, water, game bags, rope. And then use the pack to carry pieces of the animal out. You ever tried to carry a hind quarter of an elk for a few miles in your hands? Haha, it sucks. Most of us Western hunters don't hire guides to do all the work for us. We lug it out ourselves.

First elk I ever shot, two friends and I dragged it a mile over mostly gentle, snow-covered terrain. After I'd completely butchered it, the head, spinal column and rib cage were still heavy. I bought a deboning video. A good pack will keep you going all day, haul out meat and maybe save your life in terrain like this:

I shoot white tail in such a way that they run TOWARD the Polaris, so, no pack needed.

As the two not so motivated hunters in our club say ‘ there’s hard hunting and smart hunting”. Unfortunately for me I fall in the “hard hunting” catagory. 😂
