We built this ALL METAL ultralight AR to put our new SS UltaLight scope on and it ended up weighing 4.75 lbs un-scoped. We could get it lighter if we swapped out the aluminum pistol grip and used a different buffer spring but we really like the looks of the grip and the functionality of the JP Silent Captured Spring. Adding the SS Ultralight 2.5-10x32 scope and Aero Precision mount bumped it up to 5.54 lbs. We've done a little research and can't find another similar, variable scope that is lighter than the new SS Ultralight at 9.5 ozs. Edited by Chris Farris - November/02/2018 at 15:54 |

I really like those forends. Skeletonizing the receivers is an interesting approach.

That's a nice build. I used the same handguard when I was testing the Ultralight:
I did not do anything exotic with the receivers, but the handguard and the stock are very light keeping the balance exactly where I want it. ILya

Nice setup Chris! I built one recently that’s within a couple ounces of that, but my barrel looks slightly heavier than that one. What barrel profile and length did you use? I used the Brigand CF hand guard as well.

That barrel looks like carbon fiber to me. Possibly proof research

Oh yeah, I’m looking at the pics on a cell phone. After zooming in, i believe it is CF.

I like the idea of a light weight AR w/ a decent length bbl. Can't say I'm crazy about that fore end, but it serves the purpose.
So, let's see the target,,, |
