Collimation is always a big — and massively misunderstood — topic over on Cloudy Nights. The following is from the epilogue in my upcoming bino book: “I would like to be a nice person. Yet, I hope this little book drives a stake through the heart of that loathsome notion that a clinically accurate binocular collimation job can be “easily” accomplished by the haphazard tweaking a few through-the-body prism adjustment screws on whichever side feels good at the time.“Being way too human, I can’t prevent myself from getting wrapped around the axle thinking of how many instruments can be misaligned more or even damaged by the inexperienced but trusting people who were deceived by this claptrap.” I’m awaiting my proof copy now. It will be on Amazon.com. Bill |
