Hey there guys,
I'm pretty new to air guns and scopes and I recently purchased a nice weihrauch air rifle. I already had a scope which someone had purchased for me as a gift a while ago and I have not used before. Now I have been trying to zero in my scope at about 10 meters distance, and when I aim the scope at a wall the cross hairs are perfectly visible and crisp, but the moment I aim it at my target the cross hairs go completely blurry when I focus on the target. The only way I can get the cross hairs in focus is by opening both eyes, but then the target is completely blurry. I have read forum after forum and answer after answer but nothing seems to work. My scope has a magnification range from 3 to 9 and I have been trying to sight it in at a target 10 meters away. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. I have NO parallax adjustment options and nothing I do to the eyepiece focus changes the result. I need help. Scope magnification 3-9x knobs for up/down and left/right adjustment eyepiece with lock ring and thread. |

Airgun scopes are quite specific for focusing. Is the focus adjustable? What make and model? Also, WELCOME!!!

Hey thanks for the reply...
I believe the eyepiece is adjustable for the focus of the cross-hairs but it does not have any other form of focus. :) To be honest I can't tell the brand cause it just says "hunter airguns" on it... I thought it might be a lower priced one and that might be the problem but it is not the lowest tier scope you can get.

Yeah I was afraid that was the problem. I just didn't want to admit it cause I already spent a fair amount on the gun. Thanks for answering anyway. As it stands the blurry reticle is still allowing me to shoot a coin sized group at 25 yards so I will have to manage for now.

Fixed focus scope are usually set up to be in focus at 100 yards or meters.
If you shoot at 10 meters, you need a scope with side focus or adjustable objective that allows you to focus down to 10 meters. Eyepiece focus is for making the reticle sharp, nothing else. Chances are there is nothing wrong with the scope, but it is not the right scope for the application. Ilya |

You need an optic with parallax adj down to 10 yards.

As Ilya stated, eyepiece focus is for making the reticle sharp. I have found that rimfire scopes with a 50m focus are not suitable for close in shooting and an AO or side focus is needed. I have a 3-12 AO on an RWS 350 Magnum and have no problem getting it to focus in at 7m. I also have a 2.5-10 50m fixed focus rimfire scope on a Webley Scott Patriot and at 7m only have a clear picture set at 2.5X. Any higher magnification settings and the clarity starts to degrade. |
