I bought a pair of EL binoculars In 2016 and I never use those binoculars in the field. These binoculars were only used 10 times to watch birds in my backyard. Because I have a couple binoculars I was saving these for only special purposes. Today I took the binocular’s out of the box and I see the left barrel is fogged up. So I took a penlight and try to
inspect both barrels. And I was so disappointed to find out that there is dust in both the barrels and on the prisms. People kept telling me buy Swarovski Because it has the best quality control but I think it is not true.

This is not my first experience as I’ve had same issues with Z6 rifle scopes.

From other forums I read all major optic brands have similar issues so this is nothing out of the ordinary. So my question is What are we paying $3000 for?

That is too bad, and that is not dust, it could be fungus growing inside.  I have had the same thing
happen.  Give Swaro. a call, they will take care of it quickly, they have great service.

I hate to break it to you, but anything mechanical can have issues. If spending a large sum of money guaranteed perfection.  Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, Rolls Royce etc wouldn't have service departments.

Having repaired and collimated over 12,000 binoculars, I think it safe to say I have looked through considerably more. If your name is not Swarovski you’re never going to be on the board of directors. For many other big names in optics, the binocular market is gum on their shoes. The Swarovski family takes Optics very seriously. And, for my money, the EL is one of the world’s best. As has been pointed out you can find anomalies in any line, although very rare in the best. Expressing your frustration is natural. But it would have much sharper teeth if your experience was being replicated by several others.

I have found that some people will talk about optical matters they are not really prepared to discuss. I snagged the attached from my book on 3-axis binocular collimation.

Finally, remember what that American paragon of eternal wisdom taught:

“Men are like steel; when the lose their temper, they lose their value.” — Chuck Norris Smile

Bill

PS I snagged it but the program won't post it. I am on Google Chrome that has been suggested but the graphic won't save and display because it has already been displayed. 'Which it obviously HAS NOT! Aren't computer geeks wonderful! If you took all in the world and laid them end to end it would be a good thing ... at least if they were deep enough.

Swaro usually have great customer service. Call them and see what they can do, they'll probably help very promptly and successfully.
Was sure I had a point when I started this post...
