New to forum looking for advice/feedback on a rifle scope for my rpr. I've been looking hard at the trijjicon accupoint 2.5-12.5 with Green Dot moa. I've also looked at vortex viper line PST and hst. I'm just not sure. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Of the three, and assuming RPR is Ruger Precision Rifle, I think the Viper PST would be a better fit if you intent is target range work. If hunting, the accupoint is a good fit but the RPR isn't a "hunting" rifle so I'm leaning towards the first. The HST also tends to lend itself more towards more set and forget than the PST so the PST would be #1, HST #2.
Whats your max budget and intended use? We can give you some suggestions based on that information that you may have not thought of that would be better optics or fit. BTW, welcome to the OT.

I have not used that Accupoint but have used most of the others, especially the 2.5-10x56 and 5-20. That line isn't really made for target shooting, if target is the plan.
The big draw for the Accupoints is their low light performance and a lighting source not battery operated. If that is useful, then it is usually very useful. If it isn't, then it usually really isn't. Can you define what will be done with the rifle? I have a friend that loves RPRs, have spent significant time on his rifles. It is a good platform, reliable and reasonably accurate, especially for the street price. If it is a hunter, the Trijicon is probably not a bad choice; if it is a range gun, that really shouldn't be on the list - or not near the top. |
