OK, I bought a 16x Super Sniper Scope - $299.00.

I took it out of the box and it really looked like a quality scope with nice turrets. Then I look through the scope. Everything is cloudy/foggy almost like the lens is dirty.

I have a cheap Nikon Buckmaster 4x12 next to it. There is no comparison. The Nikon at about a hundred bucks is not a little better, it is day and night better. I paid about $120 for the Nikon.

Then I compare to a Nikon Monarch 1x4. Yeah it only 4X but wow, the Monarch is gorgeous and so clear. The SWFA scope optical quality is $20 Walmart Special bad by comparison. The Monarch was $230.

Are these SWFA scopes really that bad or did I get a defective one?

The reviews online said that the SWFA had exceptional turrent quality for the money but the optical quality was just Good not great. The one I got was not GOOD, it just about useless.

Pretty sure I'm going to buy another Buckmaster and replace this scope. Ug!

What is you all's opinion on the matter?

If you have adjusted the diopter and parallax and the scope is still cloudy - send it back to SWFA - they will take care of you.

You really need to allow SWFA the opportunity to address the issue before bashing them.

^^^^This. And yes call SWFA, they will take care of you.

Things can happen. If your case was the norm they wouldn't be so popular.

BTW where did you view it? Inside or outside? If outside was it sunny or cloudy? I wonder if you are mistaking darkness for cloudiness. The exit pupil is about 27% smaller, so it will appear darker than the Buckmaster. This may or may not be the case here. But rest assured you will be taken care of. No question.

Exit Pupil
The size of the column of light that leaves the eyepiece of a scope (usually measured in millimeters).  The larger the exit pupil, the brighter the image.  To determine the size of the exit pupil, divide the objective lens diameter by the power of the scope.  IE; a 4x32 scope would have a 8mm exit pupil.  32/4=8.

I have the same scope and mine is awesome. Give them a call and let them know what is going on.

Sorry I don't have a clue what is going on there.

I'd say you either had not adjusted it properly or there could be a defect that SWFA will 100% take care of.
What methods have you used with it to test it? Was it mounted or just hand viewing?
