Okay, I know going in that this is not the thread for this but you guys are a wealth of gun knowledge so I wanted to ask the other members:
I have QD sling mounts and am looking for a quality sling with padded shoulder that doesn’t have metal attachment points which could scratch my new baby. Amazon searching hasn’t turned up much. Either low quality and no metal or high quality with metal clasps. Any advice? Also, sorry again to post off-topic. I’ll keep it to a minimum.

I’ve become a huge fan of paracord slings lately. I don’t know if you would consider the shoulder portion “padded,” however I do find the thick weave on a good portion of them is comfortable on my shoulder. I guess the weave provides a small degree of “give” that feels padded. The overlapping woven strands also grabs and makes it “stay put” well on my shoulder. In addition, they are silent, look good on rifles with camo stock finishes since you can get them with multicolored cords to match, and they are extremely strong yet light.
The cord wrap covers the swivel well and prevents metal from contacting the stock.

I agree about the paracord and the closest one I’ve found to buying is 550 cord. But the connection points are metal spring clips. I’m afraid that if they hang or swing as I walk, they’ll rub against the metal of the stock and scratch it.

Do you know of a specific brand I can check out? One like you’re saying has covered clips?

A gunsmith in Arizona turned me onto these guys. They have some pretty interesting stuff and do custom...

I’ve just bought mine off EBay, as you can typically find a near endless variety there. No idea what brands I have or even if they have a “brand.” The swivel clasps are not “covered,” it’s just that the amount of cord wrapped around the swivel loop prevents the metal swivel from being able to contact the stock.

I use this sling and it works great for how I hunt. Too bad Browning doesn’t make it anymore but can still be found on the Internet. The buckle is heavy duty plastic and adjusts quickly when needed. No real padding but I don’t often shoulder my rifle, feels comfortable to me.

Quake Hush Stalker swivels are easy on gun finishes and quiet. I use them with the Quake Claw padded sling and The Wilderness carry sling, which is not padded.
