I'm a personal fan of the vortex over the other two... main reason being Vortex has better support should you need it ever with issues.   I think in the price point you mentioned all will have pretty equal glass and mechanics... stay clear of "extras" like illumination in that price point, just won't be worth the headache it'll have. Nikon would be a close second as I've have decent luck with their stuff and they normally do try to take care of the consumer more.... Never had much luck with it being easy to deal with Bushnell but that was years ago and could have changed now...

Look at the diamondbacks by Vortex, great value -

There are some deals on the WWW.Samplelist.COM you might want to look at.... this would fit your budget and if going on a 223 or similar ballistic round be a match you might like to play with and set up for your ammo -

Where in NC are you located?

Also SWFA has a sale going on until the end of the weekend..... 10% off storewide and free shipping......

I recommend you go 2-7 x 33 rather than the 3-9x40 it is a tad smaller handles really well and you will have times when the 2x is really nice to have.  This should be at its brightest in low light at 5x or below where the 3-9x40 would be bright at 6x or below in low light so you don't gain a lot from the added size of the objective.  Plus this kit comes with a mount.

I was bushnell fan for many years, but after elite 3200 problem (start to get foggy inside), I've realised how sh*tty treir warranty is.I am from Europe-Macedonia ,and after more than 1 year of runaround, final 'solution' from bushnell was to replace scope with new one, but I have to pick it up from Ukraine (2000 km from where I live). With the travel costs,I can buy 3 scopes here. Poor warranty support, don't answer my mails.Don't recomend bushnell, they are not serious brand.

Pipa, sorry to hear of your troubles.  I suggest you contact Bushnell, explain in detail 1) your issues, 2) WHERE you are and why their proposed solution is unacceptable.  You have a definite complaint.  Try again to explain it to them.  Bushnell is, generally, a good company... they have to be.  Keep pushing, make them understand.
