Hello ! I'm Claude, from France. I'm going to buy un new binoculars - a Swarovski 8.5 x 42 EL. I have the possibility to buy a previous generation (sales, destoking, with a good price) or an "up to date" generation. The differnece bitwin the two appear on this picture : https://imgur.com/a/4lo290P I would like to know if there are differences or improvements between the two models : the lens quality, the sharpness and the "rolling ball" or "globe" effect ? I saw and try (test) the previous generation : the sharpness is not at 100 %, I saw the "rolling ball" or "globe" effect but I had not the possibility to compare it with a new one. Thank you very much for your help and sorry for my English. Hope you'll can see the picture |

Optically, to me, they looked very similar.
I would take the one that is cheaper. ILya

I’d take the older ones so that I wasn’t pigeon holed to only Swarovski straps. I’m very partial to the Rick Young Outdoors harnesses.

The new ones come with adapter so you can choose wether to use the Swaro stapes or standard straps or a bino harness.
