Eduardo's Nuclear July 4th Chili Emergency.....

The recipe:     Shocked











2# hamburger

about 28 oz ( or more ) of cooked beans.....[ baked beans will work, chili beans, kidney beans whatever...] 


1 onion chopped up
2 bell peppers ( red and yellow...)chopped up
1 can ( 28 oz ) diced tomatoes ( I used CRUSHED tomatoes...)
1 6 oz can tomato paste
2-3 cups water ( I added last )
2 tbsp maple syrup
3 tbsp chili powder ( I used Hatch Chili Powder from NM...)
3 tbsp smoked paprika
3 tbsp Cayenne pepper
1 tsp Cumin
1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp sea salt
2 tbsp black pepper
a couple of spoonfuls of sliced jalapenos
1 ancho pepper cut into pieces with a scissors
about a dozen arbol peppers cut up with scissors
a sprinking of Tabasco habanero sauce
3 sweet Mexican peppers ( red and orange ) chopped up

MIX ALL UP......cook crock pot on Low for 6-8 hours....

....next time I will remember to add half a jar of Mrs Renfrow's habanero sauce ( I forgot...) and I may add half a dozen strips of cooked bacon ( crushed up )....

I could always add a can of chopped green chilis next time.....I had one in the pantry but didn't use it....

Your chili sounds great!!

That Mrs Renfro’s is one of my favs, Hatch makes a green chili salsa verde that’s very to some of the green chili salsas I had in New Mexico last year, good stuff. Love me some New Mexico style food!

Yes. This chili is good but it could be hotter and still be tasty....maybe I will DOUBLE the chili powder and chilis next time....right now it is TANGY but not really HOT!    

I would also double the maple syrup if I doubled the peppers....I know it makes a difference SOMEHOW.....
