WILSON COMBAT ANNOUNCES 300 HAM’R CARTRIDGE NOW SAAMI SPEC STANDARD

https://attackcopter.com/2020/02/02/wilson-combat-announces-300-hamr-cartridge-now-saami-spec-standard/

Wilson Combat a few years back introduced the 300 HAM’R round and as popularity has grown the 300 HAM’R cartridge has made its way getting approval by SAAMI to be a standardized cartridge.

Wilson Combat states “Wilson Combat is excited to announced that the 300 HAM’R cartridge, originally developed in 2018, has been accepted by SAAMI as a standardized cartridge.

The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Institute,INC. (SAAMI) is the organization at the forefront of promoting firearm safety by creating standards that ensure safety, reliability and interchangeability of firearms, ammunition and components.

The .30 caliber cartridge is designed to optimize performance of the 95gr-150gr bullets and to function in the AR15 platform.

Muzzle velocities from 2280fps to 2770fps out of a 16″ barrel depending on bullet weight.

The cartridge operates at a maximum average pressure of 57,500psi.

Designed for self defense, law enforcement, and hunting applications, the terminal performance of the cartridge is comparable to the legendary .30-30 Winchester.

However, the 300 HAM’R has a substantially flatter trajectory due to the higher ballistic coefficient of the bullets used.”

I have been eyeing one of these barrels for a couple of years.  It is very tempting indeed, this only makes it more so.

So about 200 FPS faster than a 110-gr Barnes 300 Blackout? For a new caliber, new setup, limited ammo source, and mostly unproven performance?

ST, let us know how it goes. I'll wait a bit before considering it, since I can effectively bracket both ends of the spectrum with 556, 300BO, and 6.5Grendel.

whats untested about 125 grain 30 cal boolits going 2500+ fps.

200fps, its really more like 300 fps with the same bullets.  Thats like 308 vs 300 wm kinda diff.

I have not justified the new caliber yet, but if i do another AR at some point. This will be the one.

My problem is i have an 8lb 308 ar. So its real hard to justify less
