Just received this from Ebay. I am always on the look out for specialist tools for binoculars, particularly the old types and found this.

These things are solid and heavy.

That is standard for long term military packaging. These were covered in grease, old grease that had dried, wrapped in standard mil preservation paper and then sealed in a box for storage from the fifties.

This is a layover from the days that the UK military used to keep long term stocks in huge warehouses for decades, rather than as they do today following commercial just in time practices that don't work.

Used this today for the first time, Think I have found out what they are for.

They clamp around the ocular eye piece to allow the disassembly, They fit exactly. Better than using a strap wrench.

They fit any 30mm ocular or doublet housings.
