If this is posted in the wrong spot I apologize. I recently posted about upgrading an older Nikon Monarch 6.5-20. Well I ended up leaving that alone and found a CZ 527 Varmint in .223. I did a lot of reading as I know the bolt throw can determine what optic will work. I used Warne medium rings mounted directly to the 16mm dovetails. The scope is a Vortex PST GenII 3-15x44 FFP I had shelved. It just barley clears. I am wondering if a 1" tube would better suit me. I will just be stand hunting and punching paper/steel from 0-400 yards. I have been reading up on Meopta and like what I am learning about them.

I can't speak to the Meopta much as I "just" received mine today, but if you're happy with the Vortex, use it, as it's a great scope.

I wound up trying several different combinations on my CZ 455 when I added a swept bolt handle to it. Different manufacturer's "high", "medium" and "low" rings vary, sometimes by quite a bit. You may be able to find a combination that gives you better clearance. Having said that, do you have a good cheek weld with the Vortex installed as it is now? I've had to add cheek pads/risers to several of my rifles to get a solid cheek weld with different scope/ring combinations. If you have to add a cheek riser/pad, you get a little bit more flexibility with ring height because you can adjust the pad to "fit" the combination.

Thank you CJarvis. I do get a good cheek weld but have not had a chance to try it in field conditions either. I do like the 3-15 and actually just bought the 5-25 with the same reticle for another rifle. I think this set up will serve me well.
