I glommed a collection of Redfield scopes over the weekend at an auction. Two of the scopes look like 6400's...one a 24X and the other a 16X.
I know these are different than the older 3200 "long tube" Redfield which use rings that mount to scope blocks, but are the 6400's considered "good kit"? I plan on using them on my .22 lr target rifles. |

I've never seen one myself, but have heard that they were very good "in the day". I have considered buying a 20x... didn't even know they had a 24x. Love the care with which they were packaged.

I don't know anything about them except that they were made from 1974 till 1984 and came in those plastic boxes.
I've had Redfield scopes from the seventies and I thought they worked okay.

Thanks, Kb! I heard the same and got them for a pretty low bid. I also glommed this one, which also appears top be a Redfield 6400 24X, but in a styrofoam box |

The names 3200 and 6400 relates to the prone matches where the highest score you could get was 3200 or 6400 short or long course of fire. usually this was 50 and 100yds and I believe some of the score was comprised of aggregates of some of the matches shot. It was a lot of shooting prone with heavy match rifles. and yeah your scopes were/are good, they look well cared for and will probably still hold thier own. Most of the scopes made for 22lr like yours will focus down to 50 ft by the way, great for shooting indoors, a17 or a36 nra target for 50ft is a challenge
