I would guess P O Ackley was deceased long before the .260 was introduced.
When you are dead, you don't know you are dead.It is difficult only for others.

It is the same when you are stupid.

I'm not sure if this cartridge fits the Ackely Improved concept considering what it's based on. Ackley improved cartridges allow the parent cartridge to be fired in the gun and the .260 REM doesn't appear to be the parent.

Welcome to the forum.

If the information i read is correct, namely that .260 AAR  is a 257 Ackley Improved necked up to 6.5 (who comes up with this kind of ridiculous stuff, anyway? ), then be informed that
...a 6.5 x 57 mm cartridge exists and has been around for about 100 years, except it does not have blown out body and shoulders and therefore feeds reliably in bolt action rifles and extracts easily from single shot break open rifles.  If you want to check loading data for your most unique .260 AAR, look up 6.5x57 (fifty seven) load data and use common sense. Your .260 (if it is a 7x57/8 x 57 type of case)  would probably take a bit more powder. than 6.5x57  .
If my message above does not make sense at all, please get a copy of Cartridges of the World and a good reloading manual with good intro instructions and read carefully.  i

Welcome to the forum.

The 260 AAR is literally is outlined in P.O. Ackley's Handbook for the Shooters and Reloaders Volume II on page 358.
