How good are the new Burris Euro Diamond riflescopes?  The only experience I have is with a Signature 4-16x44 electro-dot that I have had good results with.  Thinking the 3-12x50 illuminated might have a place on a lightweight hunting rifle if it performs well in low light.  Are the Euro's closer to a signature or a black diamond?  What do the adjustment dials look like?  Are they like the sig. that I have?  And last for Chris, how do you compare the Euro Diamond with the Meopta scopes.  I remember we talked on the phone about  Meopta a while back.  Thanks.

Rick

I bought a Black Diamond 2.5X10X44 about a year ago and really like it.  I was going to get another a couple of months ago but found they don't make that scope in a Black Diamond any more.  I bought a Euro Diamond 2.5X10X44 hoping it would be the same, but it's not.  I guess I shouldn't have expected the same scope for less money.  The Euros are good, but they're not Black Diamonds.   More of a Signature in a 30mm tube.  That's still a really good scope, though.

The Euro Diamonds are side focus lower powered Black Diamonds with hunting reticles.  Same glass and construction just more tailored to big game hunters instead of long range target / varmint.

Here is what Burris has to say about them;

We designed this exciting, new line of 30mm riflescopes especially for low light hunting situations. We’ve combined optical and mechanical excellence with a collection of hunter friendly ergonomics and sensuous lines in a package that promises to give the pricey European brands a new standard to shoot for.

Of course, we started with some of the best lens glass obtainable, ground and polished to perfection and completely multi-coated with our proprietary anti-reflective Hi-Lume® process. Then we added some features destined to create envy on the part of our competitors:

Most Euro Diamonds have a 4:1 variable magnification range with up to 4 inches of eye relief. Adjustment dials are easily viewed by the shooter, finger-adjustable and resettable. Deep relief grooves on the power ring and parallax adjust ring provide a firm gripping surface and the easy-to-see, non-slip power ring is integrated with the eyepiece. The eyepiece features European style internal focusing with an easy-to-grip rubber adjusting ring.

When you put all these features together with a handful of factors that the high-priced European scopes can’t match - 100% American construction, the incomparable Burris Forever Warranty and an affordable price - you’ve got yourself a scope whose superiority needs no translation.

In addition each Euro Diamond features a large objective lens which creates a large exit pupil for quick target acquisition and a high twilight factor for the ultimate in brightness in low light.
