I would appreciate suggestions on choosing a scope for a sauer model 200 in .243 cal. I will be using this rifle for whitetails, hogs, and coyotes in Texas. Most of the time it would be a fairly brushy environment with some shots being 300 yds long. I have been looking at the burris fullfield 11 ( 3x9x40) combo for around $200.00. I particularlly like the ballistic plex recticle and was wodering if I should save up some more cash and go for something better like, the signature select series of scopes with the ballistic plex. Is there another scope out there that has the ballistic plex recticle that would be a better choice. I might be persuaded to go to the $350.00 range. Thanks in advance for your help.

In your price range, the Burris is pretty hard to beat if you have to have the ballistic plex reticle. ranburr

Swarovski and Kahels TDS is a similar reticle as is the new Leupold Boone and Crockett reticle but none are available in a scope $350.00 or less. Burris does offer the Ballistc Plex in 3-10x40 SIgnature Select for $372.95 and this scope is mechanically and optically superior to the Fullfield II. Burris Ballistc Plex

Chuckles, I can vouch for Chris's statement on the Burris Signature Select. I purchased a Burris 3-10x40 Signature Select from him for the price he just quoted about one month ago. I am very impressed with the scope. In the under $200 class range of scopes I think that the Burris 3x9x40 Fullfield II is the best thing going. With that said, if there is any way possible to get the Burris 3-10x40 Signature Select for $372.95, do it. I did and I love the scope. I think that the Signature Select compares very favorably with the Leupold 3.5-10x40 VXIII, the Ziess Conquest 3x9x40, and the Kahles 3x9x42. Those were the scopes that I also considered, and I picked the Signature Select. Good luck with your choice and let us know what you get. Stan |

Thank you for your comments. I am seriously considering the burris signature select 3x10x40. I was wodering how this scope compares in brightness & clarity, with some of the other scopes I have heard praises about on this forum.Particularly the Bushnell 4200,Nikon Monarch,& the Leopold vx3 I was kind of still considering the bushnell 4200,even though it does'nt have the ballistic plex recticle, just because of all the good things I have heard about this scope especially its brightness. |
