I have a Burris Safari presently but I would like a brighter scope. Any advice? The older Burris did me good service but it wasn't bright enough. I'm not convinced the new model is what I want.

Well, Leupold makes VX-III scopes in similar sizes to Burris, and their
1.5-5x20mm with a German #4 reticle is a pretty standard scope for
safari type high recoil rifles. Burris optics are nothing to sneeze at
though, the Leupold might be brighter but you'll need a light meter to
tell the difference.

I love that tapered post. All I have to do is worry about where the tip is and I've got him. I always used a duplex until I accidently had to use the Burris and I just love it.The German #4 is not quite so handy to me but I may have to resign myself to it.
You are right about the new Burris being brighter than the old. I haven't tried a new Leupold yet. |

How old is your Burris?
The new Signature Select model 1.75-5x32 Safari is not out yet but Burris claims major improvements. Here is some of what Burris says.
Signature Select™ Riflescopes
Every surface of every premium quality lens is fully Hi-Lume multi-coated. The Signature Select internal lenses are some 65% larger in surface area than a great many other 1" scopes on the market, and in fact significantly larger than most scopes with 30mm outer tubes. A generous 4.5" of eye relief. The finger-adjustable, shooter- viewable adjustment dials are all resettable. 19-45 foot field of view at 100 yards 3.8'-4.5" eye relief
