not really because my weatherby with a 220gr bullet still generates more recoil.... if both rifles weigh the same. and actually if you run the calc, if you put a 225 gr up against a 250gr and use the same amounts of powder for both, there is only 3ftlbs difference not several....

     You're right.  I hadn't run the calculations in about two years and I was off by about 5 ftlbs.  Its 33.5 ftlbs for the 250 Speer and about 30ftlbs for the 225 gr Sierra.  My sincerest apologies.  Thanks for the correction.  I also didn't take into consideration the 220gr bullet in the Weatherby.  Bet it hits like a ton of bricks.

i dont use them, ive stuck to 180gr stuff, they are so much more accurate, besides, if i need anything heavier than 180gr i reach for a bigger gun which is where my .375H&H comes in. i am a big fan of the .35whelen though.
