    Posted: August/06/2004 at 09:10

I stumbled upon your site while doing some research on a new Scope for a new Bushmaster Varmiter that I'm planning on purchasing.

Great site here by the way!

Looking for recommendations/ opinions on the following scopes to go with the new Varmiter.

Leupold Mark 4 LR/T 8.5-25x50

Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x40

Nikon Monarch 6.5-20x44

Any thoughts, recommendations on the scopes above?  Any that I may have overlooked?

Thanks Much!

I would go with the Mark 4. You may want to consider a 6.5-20X50 though. That 8.5X is a bunch of magnification to have as your lowest power. Another 2X to work with could sure come in handy.

What kinda varmints are planning on shooting?  Your choices are excellent for prairie dog / target type shooting but too much power for low light coyote shooting.

Chris,

What would you recommend for coyote shooting, or something in-between?

Thanks!

Rich

I think a 3-9, 3-10 or 3-12 x 40 - 50mm works better for coyotes, especially if you are calling.  Illuminated reticle would be a plus but not a necessity.

Zeiss Conquest 3-10x44.....$549.99

Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5-10x40 FireFly.....$379.95

Nikon Monarch 3-10x50 Illuminated.....$599.99

Leupold 3.5-10x40 Mark 4 LRT Illuminated.....$879.95
