I just recently bought a Sako AV .30-06 and have planned to top it with a Swarovski 4x12x50mm scope. I would like to know how much the Sako Optilock rings are, where's the best place to get a good deal on them is, and does anyone have any feedback on their engineering design? Which height would I need? If someone can convince me of a better choice, I'd be interested in their opinion. I want to do the rifle/scope combination justice with quality rings. Also, if you know a lot about Sakos, I'd like to know does my gun have a model designation number? Some I've seen have action designations like 61, 461, the current 75, etc. and I wanted to know if mine had one as it's not marked on the gun anywhere. It is a Stoeger import from the mid-eighties.

I don't know how much help this will be to you, but if you go to GUNSAMERICA.com you will see several Sako's with the AV designation or rifles that state that they are built on the " AV " action. As I stated in a different tread, if you can find a pair of Leupold rings that are made foe the grooved receiver of the Sako, I would not hasitate to use them in place of the Sako style rings and bases. Good luck with your project.
