Tried it in a .300 RUM for 180gr. bullets.

No joy!

I went back to RL 25 and IMR 7828.

Others have used it in a .300 RUM with success. Or so I've read.

Pyro, tried it in my 7mm RUM for 160gr. bullets, got to agree with Cheaptrick, nothing to brag about, also went to RL-25, much better results! actually it's a night & day difference. Got some loaded up with H-50BMG, have yet to try them out. I'll let ya'll know how it goes, It's been said that it's even better.

H-1000 is the best powder I've found for my Savage .243 using heavier bullets.

45.1 gr with a 105 Amax, Rem. brass and F210 M primers gets me 3010 fps and is very accurate.

pyro8999,

Here's a photo I took during load development.  45 gr. H-1000 with Lapua brass.  I love H-1000.

One more, different bullet, a Berger 95 VLD with 46 gr. H-1000, rem brass:

Did I mention that I LOVE H-1000?

looks similar to what my old man's .243 does with 4895 but with 5 shots instead of 3 slightly bigger group just under a dime, nice group though

I prefer 5-10 shot groups too, but for load development it's not worth the time and barrel life, at least to me.

I've shot a couple of 20 shot rapid fire groups with the first load, one at .759" and the other at .841".  I won't do that again as it really heats things up, but I wanted to see how the barrel would behave under extreme match conditions.

im starting to think shooting 5 shot groups for testing is a waste too.
