I bought a Nikon Buckmaster from the samplelist 3-9x 40 nikoplex finger adjust/ and mounts.Still wondering if I will need a riser.AR 15 16" brl. Will see the front sight? I was told it would be just a shadow. The salesman at SWFA said the same thing I wouldn't be able to see through the front site.Someone have the right answer? Thanks

You got the right answer twice. The length of barrel doesn't matter. Below the carbine a 16", has a BSA dot placed on the handle. If the dot were on the level of the receiver, and since the dot sight has no magnification the front site would be very clear. Now image a scope there, the front site will be more defined at lower powers and decrease in sharpness to a ghost and at some power probably around 12 no longer in the field of view. your working with 3x9 so you will have to raise it some. high rings which will probably be needed anyway to clear the bell and the rear carrier cocker, will raise the line of sight almost 1/2 up the front sight, making at least about 1/2 go away at all powers, but even more so on the high powers. If youl get a riser you will have to play with ring ht. a riser and high rings will be two much -soooo see why no one has answered this question. if you have some more qualifed questions please submit (for the curious yes the BSA went south at about 2000 rds, for what its worth the 2x scope is ok but the dot sucks and yes that is an AK pistol grip)
