Have just bought a used 308 Norma Mag and there is not a lot of ammo choice as it is an obsolete cartardge and not all hunting supply outlets stock 308 Norma. So it would appear that the only choice I have would be to start reloading. My question is which kit should I buy? I want to buy reasonable quality and I only want to buy once rather than go cheap and just have to go out and buy again after I have learned that I bought crap in the first place.

depends on how many other calibers and how much you shoot. reloading in and of itself is hobby it just happens the product is useable. some reloaders love the tinker road-- personally if you can't load it on a dillon I don't shoot it.

Welcome, eaglesnester! Any of the kits from RCBS, Redding, Lyman, Dillon, etc. will work fine to start out. Like anything else, we all have our own brand preferences. You will eventually add tools as you learn more about reloading. The key is to start with a good solid press that will last. You will of course need die sets for each cartridge you intend to handload for. I recommend Redding and RCBS dies. Get the FL sizing die sets, which is all you will ever need, unless you plan to get into competitive shooting.
Good luck, and if you have any specific questions about reloading, feel free to ask. There are many knowledgeable folks here.

Thanks for the info. I plan on hunting white tails, Mules, Moose, black bear, and the occasional grizz draw. I live in northern B.C. and am lucky enough to be able to hunt these critters almost right out my front door. I will not be needing the mag power for deer and would like to dummy down the pushen and gr weight (180gr) to tame recoil. When I step up to moose , elk, etc I can step up to the normal 200gr and loads. Will also be keeping 4 loads of 230gr on the gun stock in a ready service belt with full 308 mag load for the rare time that I may have a very bad grizz encounter. I will only be loading 308 Norma for now as it is the only gun I currently own.

Yeah, the Rock Chuker Supreme Master kit would be a good choice. I wish I would have gone with a kit, instead of piecing my reloading gear together.
