i know a fellow who has one in a left hand model but since you dont read magazines you probably dont know his name. COL. Craig Boddington, he and steve hornady used them in an african safari last year and craig quoted saying he thought the .375 ruger was everything a .375h&h was maybe more, i was surprised and he said it hurt for him to write about it but he felt it was a great round took down everything they hunted for 2 weeks recoil is reportedly on the obnoxious side.

Yea DC, how did you find out about the .375 Ruger if you do not read magazines. It must have been "ESPN". You should buy one and do a detailed report, including an analysis of barrel throat erosion with multiple statiscal analysis and other forms of mental masturbation to include mold casting of the barrel throat. Do all of your shooting in the standing position and remove the recoil pad. Then, while doing all of this, dream that it will be vastly superior to every other 375 on the market, to even include the dreaded, must I say, 378 Wby. I will take my 375 Remington Ultra Mag. anyday, not that there is anything wrong with the Ruger, but it will be awhile before any competition chambers their rifles for that caliber. Let us know how the testing goes.

Boy, do Sundays always hit you this hard??. I didn't say I didn't read magazines, I said I don't get my real life experiences from them (either hunting or sexual). Personally I'll keep my .416--- it kicks the sh*t out of all you mentioned. No. just saw the round on the Hornady web site while looking up some BC, something that seems foreign to someone who gleens their knowledge, and was wondering if it was another short mag wanabe and noticed from the web site it took a "reg" action. oh, pyro you say, you know him, do you really know him or is that just a form of expression?? I don't have one now and never will. I think the caliber is interesting and in the standard version looks nice. I think Ruger has serious aesthetic issues with their synthetic stocks, once agian. At least they didn't mold their logo in the butt stock like the first time around with plastic. I hope they sell but my .375H&H suits me just fine. |

I have looked more into this cartridge and it is similar in capacity to the H&H. It is shorter with straighter walls and probably more efficient. I am puzzled that the the Hornady website says ".375 H&H velocities out of a 20 in" barrel". I wonder if this is apples to apples barrel length wise. I can't see this being a 20'' to 24" comparison. I haven't found any hard data other than the Hornady site. Rifle Magazine has a decent article.

they used a 23" barrel in craigs rifle, which places the performance in the 375 weatherby and 375 ultra mag 270 gr interlock 300 gr interbond and 300 gr roundnose fmj where what they used in africa |

A little off topic here, but speaking of Craig Boddington, I thought he was promoted from Col. to Brig. General. Yet, I don't see his new title used on his articles. I would think the man earned the title, and deserves to have it used. Or, has it not cleared all the official political channels yet?
Chris, maybe you know... |

Havent owned one yet, but I did shoot next to one last week...It was in a walnut stock, out of the box sites....The young man shooting it was tuning it up for a trip to Africa.....(Zebra) He goes every year.... He was shootin about 2" at 100yds..I used to have eyes like that..! I asked him if it would do any better and he said, what, me or the rifle?? He was standing....He said, ya, maybe...That was on the 20th round... When asked what he did for a living, he replied, Im a "wedding photographer......Who would think, I could have been going to Africa once a year..!!!
