Hi everyone. I am so glad to find this forum, and for the knowledgeable help that is here. It is difficult to reach a decision without hands on side-by-side comparisons. I spent about 3 days using the search feature, and have read about 2/3 of all the posts on all boards for the 3 different scopes I need.

For my Silhouette 10/22 I will be shooting off-hand at metal plates. Ranges from 50-75-100 yds. Silhouette shooting about 90%, and 10% hunting. Budget is $200 max. Need AO, and target knobs.

Am leaning toward a Simmons ProAir in 4-12x. Since I'm a novice at this sport would I be better off with the 4-12x than a higher power 6-18x for the off-hand shooting? I don't expect it to be a Leupold quality, just a decent low-end scope that will do the job. What do you all think? Are there other scopes that would be a better fit? Thanks for your help.

I use a close focus 3X9 Leo on a Volquertson-Fajen stocked 10/22 tension barrel which the scope will hold dime size groups using Win T-22. I wouldn't want more power.

I think you are right on track with the Simmons Pro-Air for your application.  1/8 moa target knobs, A/O focuses down to 10 yards, nice plex reticle, fully coated lenses and very versatile power range.  I can tell you did your homework.
