Hi ~ new to the site and handgun scoping. There seems to be a buzz on the new Nikons coming out but the talk has been limited to riflescopes. Has anyone seen anything on Nikons new line of handgun scopes? Would it be prudent to wait? Will be mounting up a SRH 454 but really didn't want to sink big $'s on a leupold etc

Hi odho,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Go to..........shootingtimes.com...........click on optics, then scroll down to an excellent article written about the Nikon Monarch, UCC, 2.5x8 variable. This scope can be used as either a scout rifle scope or as a handgun scope!!! ...........I have two scopes for my rifle, the Ruger M77 Frontier, 300 WSM, with the 16.5" barrel. One scope is mounted conventionally over the receiver, the other is this same Nikon, that I can mount forward of the action on the barrel and use as a scout scope. Although not mounted on a handgun, my experience with this scope in the field and on the range has been excellent.............That particular article I referred you to, prompted me to purchase this scope!!!! In my opinion this Nikon is a better scope than the Leupold and for less money!!!!.......Wink...........Big Squeeze!

Thanks Big Squeeze ~

Yeh, Nikon is a trusted name. Been wanting to get one but hear a newer version is on the way. Couldn't find a date stamp on the article which was a good read (again thanks:-) and wondering if I shud hold off to see if the newer (still no input on the HG version of the monarch) monarch hits the shelves ~ Dunno, perhaps the new improved monarch is only the rifle line?
