depends on what grade it is, im guessing its a plain old standard the problem is that my book is pre winchester closing its doors so the prices changed after that. in my book its $350

Not really, a lot depends on it's condition. I'd check out Gunbroker.com to see what similar ones seem to be going for, but that is only a very rough guide. I doubt it's rare or particularly collectible , but I can't say for certain. I want to say that 1964 was the year Winchester introduced the .264 Winchester magnum, the .338 Winchester magnum and the .458 Winchester magnum cartridges, but again, I'm no expert.
(Edited to clarify that the above paragraph is in response to the original poster's second post, not Pyro's.) Edited by RONK |

actually the .264 and the .388 were introduced in 1958, and the .458 was introduced in 1956. grade and condition are the main factors.

That surprises me a little. I thought I read somewhere that all three cartridges were unveiled at the same time, and I really didn't think it was that early. 1956 and 1958 huh? Learn something new every day, I guess... Thanks for the interesting tidbit. |

maybe this is what you were thinking, here, come follow the light it will not hurt you walk with me i will teach you everything i can. back to what i was getting too, the 1964 thing is actually a 1963 thing and you probably were reading about the 300 win mag because that was the year(1963) that it was brought out by winchester. it is somewhat disputed i found out as to what exact year the .264 & .338 came out most info i have seen says 1958, some say 1959, but thats a minor issue. |

it would say on the side of barrel if it was something extra, like xtr or featherweight something like that would be stamped along with winchesters trademark etc.
