Hi,

I'm new and hoping for some advice. I have done a couple of searches but didn't have any real luck. I just purchased a Disc Elite .50 and am getting a  Sightron II 3-9X42 to go with it. I am trying to find the best option for rings and mounts. As the finish on the muzzleloader and scope are both stainless steel, I would prefer that finish on the rings and mounts. However, I know how much recoil to expect from this gun, so am not sure if it is worth sacrificing the strength of steel to go with nicer matching aluminum.

I really would appreciate any suggestions, great informative site here!

P.S. I haven't actually ordered the scope yet, any suggestions on good deals?

Thanks in advance,

Todd in Vermont

trekker, I have the same gun as you do and I have a set of Leupold QR rings and bases. I don't know if Leupold makes the QR's in a SS finish, but they do make the QRW's in silver. Just in case you are not aware, any bases for a Remington 541 ( rim fire ) will fit your Disc Elite. When you see the groups that this rifle is capable of, you will forget all about it's recoil!!!! My Elite was more accurate with 3 Pyrodex pellets and a 250 Barnes MZ Expander at 100 yrds and 200 yrds than it was with two pellets. Good luck with your new muzzleloader.

Hi Roy,

Thanks for the input. Just curious why you went with the QR rings, with no iron sights why the need to detach the scope? Glad to hear you are having such great luck with the Elite, I know I made the right choice!

Take care,

Todd

Sorry for the long delay to respond. I have the Disc Extreme, not the Elite. I went with them so that I could go anywhere any be compliant with any local or state regulations.
