Besides Leupold, who makes a gloss scope of at least 20x with a 40 mm bell?  I have a 1949 varmint gun with high gloss and fancy walnut.  It needs a gloss scope and I want alternatives.

I could be mistaken, but doesn't Swift and Shepherd offer gloss varmint style scopes?  If not, I don't know of any other manufacturer besides Leupold that offers gloss scopes suitable for a varmint rig.

Another alternative would be to contact Joe at

http://www.larsontactical.com/index.html

And have him put a gloss finish on any scope you want.

Burris makes a 14X in gloss.

I have an old model Nikon Monarch 6.5-20x in gloss finish and it is a good looking scope.  Unfortunately it appears that the Monarch now only offers gloss finish in the 12X model.  I think people make too much of a big deal over gloss scopes - arguing that they just scare game.  Most rifles and scopes, until recently, had gloss finishes and people managed to shoot plenty of game.  Furthermore, if I am shooting varmints at long ranges, in my opinion, the varmints aren't going to see far enough to know if you have a gloss scope.  It is just all the fixation with "tactical" equipment, and a desire of the manufacturers to convince us  that a cheaper finish is really better.

Lepould makes some varmint scopes in gloss but it looks like they are all in a 30mm tube for some reason.
