looking to buy a new scope I have been looking at the nikon prostaff 3x9x40 with the bdc reticle and the pentax 3x9x50 gameseeker which would be the best choice or a other scope for under150

Minchunter: Welcome to the forums.  While I really like Nikon scopes the Prostaff just is not worthy of the Nikon name, neither is the low end Rifleman form Leupold.  If you could afford to step up to the Nikon Backmaster and at times on the sample list or E-bay you can find great deals. You will be much happier with much better optics.  As far as Pentax goes, I'd look to the next level in which I believe is the Pioneer which is very similar to the Burris FullField. Burris makes scopes for Pentax although I believe (Not sure) that the Pioneer is made overseas where as the Whitetails Unlimited is made in the USA by Buris but it is more money.

The scopes that you are looking at are by no means terrible however, for just a bit more money the level of performance goes up a great deal and will provide years of happy service.

*Burris Fullfield/ Pioneer

* Nikon Buckmaster

* I'd also throw out the Bushnell 3200 Elite I dont think the glass is quite up there with the Burris/Pentax or the Nikon but its still a very good soild scope the 4200 Elite is AWSOME but way more money.

Once again welcome to the forums and happy shooting

Get a Burris FFII or a Bushnell ELite 3200.

I was on a low budget to scope my muzzleloader and after looking at my brotherinlaws 4x12x40 Gameseeker, I bought a 3x9x50. I compared it to my Burris FFII 4.5x14x42 in various light conditions and the Burris had a slight edge. I don't believe that this scope can be beat for the money.

buckmaster is a safe bet - go 4200 if you are getting the elite series.

good luck.
