Hi guys, I have a problem.....I think. I mounted a n Aimpoint Comp M4 on my AR about a year ago. Shot it a couple of times, looked through it plenty, and I (at least I thought) know it in and out.

We'll, the other day I had it out, leaning up against the couch and it fell over. I put it back in the safe without looking at it. I've seen these dropped out of choppers so no biggie.

Well, today I looked through it and I noticed the sight picture wasn't a perfect circle. I thought the edge of it bent in a tad. It's not a huge thing , but I picked up on it right away.

Turns out, it's the little diode that puts out the red dot itself. I think it shifted a little. But then I checked the co-witness and it hadn't moved.

Sorry if I haven't explained this properly, it's hard to explain I made it fall again on purpose and nothing changed.

So is this something I just missed for this long? I had a friend look at it. I didn't mention what the exact problem was and he couldn't find it. I then pointed it out to him and said once you see it, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

I'll try and take some pics.

Welcome to Optics Talk.

I took the liberty of down sizing your picture so we could get a better look at your problem. Hope you don't mind.

Are you talking about the "bump" at or around 1:00 in the picture?

Yes.  I can't see how I missed that after all of this time, but like I said, the red dot itself didn't move.  It didn't lose co-witness, and I moved it using the adjustment knobs to make sure it still moved and it did.

Am I crazy?

Thanks for the pic resize Smile

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's normal.

When I first got my T1 Micro I witnessed the same thing, in a sense. I looked through it several times before I saw this "perceived flaw", which as you stated, is the diode sticking out there. I saw it there every time I looked through it, until I asked around and a dude told me it was "normal". Now...I don't ever notice it and haven't for a few years.

Two ideas come to mind.

1) You can contact Aimpoint and ask them.

2) Or you can go to ARFCOM and ask the lads there if it's FUBAR'd or not.

I think you just noticed it.
