Never seen anything quite like that (around here) before. I may have to think a bit on it. How big is it... body length and wingspan?
If we're not suppose to eat animals...how come they're made of meat?

Might just be ... but most are smaller than that. They usually have long (16+ or - segmented) antennae and long, extruded ovipositors. If so, they are beneficial predators. It's a very large group with over 3100 species in North America. I'll keep checking about. Tis a cool creature though.

Possibly some type of scorpionfly. If so, harmless (but look mean).
