Must be real dumb but I can't find a decent picture of the BDC reticle for the nikons. Can you post me a link or pic of the reticle so I can see what I think? I'm right close to doing the 4x16 thing and its come down to the 4200 which I already have to compare and the nikon monarch. Best I've found is an almost impossible to see pic in the competitor catalog. Thanks

Thanks Pyro, really pretty simple ranging reticle. I'm putting it on a 22 middlestead for some very long range varmint work, might just do the trick for me since our varmints mostly weigh 15# on up to about 80.

Yes I'm just an unabashed speed slut I guess. The more I look at the reticle the more I think it will be a pretty good quick holdover tool for those call shy dogs......Thanks guys.

The lines are rather fat - not thin.

Just be advised.

And, with a round like that, it'll take some tweaking to get the ranges right.

Equality is something you whine about not being given.

I agree RC, the targets are large enough not to make it a real issue as with sod poodles or crows however. Yes I will have to work my own yardages out for the different bubbles as the trajectory will be on the flat side.

Pyro it will make my 22-250 which is a decent barrel burner in its own right with the loads I use, seem very mild. I just use savage heavy barrels that at their cost are not a real hand wringer when the throats disappear. You just cut a couple threads off and rechamber a couple times till the rifling starts to go. $175 a pop so another is a pretty good option. Looking at about 4300fps or so with the little 50-55gr pills. Just a fun "reach out and touch" coyote gun, with a chuck every now and then.

A lot of our coyote hunting and shooting is at low light to night time so a stiff prominent reticle would be for the good. Haven't heard anything bad about the new monarchs yet and more than a few shooters have been testing them. The 4200's are going thru some changes right now with the upgrades in 4x16 and probably a price increase as well, rainguard is not as important with this scope either. Monarch looks like the way to go with this one, hey CT did you get the two different turret set-ups with yours? What was the difference?

The 6-24x comes with the high target turrets.
I read that Nikon will offer target turrets with the models that don't come with them.
Not sure how or where to aquire them though.
Mine just came with the low profile turrets, Dave.

I didn't feel target turrets were as important with the BDC reticle.
I have a 100 yard zero now.
I'm going to try to "lean" my shots instead of "clicking" 'em...Sharp%20Shooter

According to Nikon literature, it's good to go on everything from a .17 to the big bores.
It will probably take some "tweaking", but I would think it's very doable on a .22LR.

Heading to the range soon to try the BDC out on ground squirrel targets with a .308.
