Looking for new glass, for my 25-06.... This is the deer gun I go with for power lines/ bean fields / food plots...mainly hunt the SE with some Midwest sprinkled in some years. Most important thing to me is low light performance at dusk and dawn.
Considering the following scopes in a 44/50/56mm ......Not a tactical guy so turrets do nothing for me.....considering Weaver Grand Slam 4-14 x40 or 3-9x56 / Ziess Conquest 3-12x42 / Vortex Viper 4-16x50 / Meopta Meopro 3-12x44 and others in the $300-650 range or so. Shots will be 100-300yrds |

IMO, the Conquest and Meopro (off your list) are solid choices.

If low light is primary importance I would get a scope with 50mm objective and the best glass you can afford.
Meopro. http://swfa.com/Meopta-3-9x50-MeoPro-Rifle-Scope-P62170.aspx http://swfa.com/Meopta-4-12x50-MeoPro-Rifle-Scope-P45969.aspx illumination could be nice for you as well. Leupold. http://swfa.com/Leupold-3-9x50-VX-R-30mm-Riflescope-P48039.aspx |

...and also a 4A reticle in the Zeiss and Meopta or the illuminated VX-R listed above.

Went by cabelas today.......ruled out the vortex and just not a fan of leupold.
So I am down to Ziess Conquest 4-12x42 / Meopta meopro 3-10x44 or Weaver Super Slam 3-15x50....as I understand it the glass in the conquest is outsourced by Meopta.....I have a grand slam ( same glass as super slam)on another rifle and I am highly impressed. Ziess is $500-550 / Weaver is $300-350 / meopro is $350 |

The 50mm scopes are brighter, but i have two Conquest 42 mm and i never felt that they are not bright enough. They are in fact wonderful.
I would leave the 50 mm scopes out because they are big, and large and make many rifles feel clumsy and unbalanced and top heavy. A good 42mm is enough for hunting in America if the optics are good and the reticle is made for hunting. The Meopta and the Zeiss offer both, their regular plex and the 4 reticles are great and the optics leave nothing to be desired.
