Anyone ever compilied a list of states that don't allow them?

Not that I know of...and some states that allow them, such as Montana, have some confusing-sounding regs. You can't illuminate the target, i.e spotlight it, but a lighted reticle is okay. Some states may allow use of the optic if batteries are removed, but I'd check first on an individual state. Regs change all the time. Call and talk to somebody, then get that person to email you the portion of the regulations or some statement about it if they do allow it. All state governments are required to keep electronics records so you will have proof that Joe Blow @ North Wyokota Fish & Game said it was permissible.
