I'll be mounting a Vortex Viper PST Gen II 3-15x44mm on an AR-15, primarily for 200 - 600 yard target shooting. I was going to order a $230 Aadland 30mm 20 MOA scope mount for it, but everywhere I look they're out of stock. What scope mount would you recommend instead?
I initially was going to just use an Aero Ultralight SPR mount (manufacturer), because I need its far-forward SPR offset for prone shooting. But then I saw that Ilya does not recommend using that mount for any scope that may get dialed for elevation a lot, because of the way it squeezes the scope tube unevenly. Also, although I don't need the 20 MOA of elevation in the mount, it sound like a good idea for this application, and of course the Aero doesn't have that. Maybe the $110 Athlon Cantilever Mount 20 MOA? Or a Nightforce Unimount A430 (20 MOA, extended) for around $260? |

Seekins precision and american defense both make excellent mounts and have models with 20MOA built in. I have both and like both. The american defense is quick detach where the seekins is not. Vortex has one as well that is made by seekins. Same thing just have the vortex logo on it. |
