Someone on this site recently posted that  the 10 X 56 IOR had some failure issues that were not seen in other models.  I don't remember who it was or if he specified the problems(s).
 Sorry.

I was told by another IOR dealer that the IOR 10-56mm is the most failure prone IOR scope.   He does not recommend it.

I think the 42mm version is the newer model

faggeddaboudit.  I canceled the order on that IOR because I heard too much negative info.
I do have the IOR 6x42 which has been great.

The 10-42mm is suppose to be one of the most durable of the IORs along with all the fixed 42mm scopes.  6x, 10x, 16x are all suppose to be very durable.

It's kind of a tough call to make. It may have been only a few such scopes that had problems, but because the sample size is fairly small, the entire line of that model has gotten a bad rap, deserved or not.

Maybe it was a manufacturing flaw that has since been corrected.  Who knows?

That depends on when the scope was designed and made.  IOR had a line of 56mm scopes with 30mm tubes in the past that was less robust than the rest of the IOR line-up.  However, now I see several new IOR scopes with 56mm objectives.  I am not sure if these are redesigned or it is still the same design that they had a few years ago.  If it is something new, than the jury is still out.  If it is the older desing, i probably would stay away from it.  The 6x42 and 10x42 scopes are very tough though.
