I recently got a custom built 7mm-08 and am trying to find the best factory ammo to shoot through it.  I don't have the tools or knowledge to handload so that is out of the question.  Let me know if there are any other factors yall need to know.  Thanks!

Congratulations on the new rifle. Buy a box of each of several brands Rem Win Fed  in the same weight bullet and see what shoots the most consistent three shot groups at say 200 yds. Then stay with what works best. You might also test different weight bullets as the twist of the barrel will make a difference in what it likes. Remember to let the barrel cool down after each three shots and not more than 5, high powers are not like shooting a 22 where you can raddle off lots of rounds in rapid fire. The first twenty or so shots it is good to break in the barrel by cleaning after each shot. You may find that you want to reload if you like to shoot.

Remingtons premier accutip with their 140 gr accutip BT is outstanding.

Here are the specs on the gun:  McMillan Varminter Stock, Winchester Action w/ Claw extractor, Shillen 24" Match Fluted Barrel, Winchester Competition adj Trigger.

I've got  a Pentax Lightseeker 30 6-24x50 but I think I'm going to put a 4.5-14x50 VXIII LR Leupold on it.  I have shot Hornady SST 139's, 140 Gr. Ballistic Silvertips, and Federal Partitions through it.  The guy I got the gun from said it shot the partitions best but they were very eratic for me.  The ballistic silvertips seemed to shoot the best through it.  I'm going to try some other ammo though also.  Thanks for the input guys!!

Wow, if you ever decide to handload try 45gr of IMR4350 or H4350 behind 140 gr ballistic tips or accubonds. The paritions often don't lend themselves to tiny groups, try factory loads with SST's - ballistic tips - accubonds - or ballistic silvertips.

I understand switching to a lower power scope, but why a Leupold?
