I have a Nikon Omega 3-9 w/BDC muzzloader scope that I have mounted on a BaiKal Combination 12ga over a 30-06 rifle. I want to mount this scope on my 50 Cal black powder muzzle loader. The gun has an octagnal barrel and a stamped large I (looks like a roman numeral I) and says made in Italy with serial numbers and other numbers. Other than that I have no idea who makes this gun.

Whats the best solution to mount this scope/ Take it to a gunsmith and have him drill and tap the barrel to mount the scope? I plan on using this scope on the muzzle loader during black powder season and then putting the scope back on the combo rifle/shotgun for gun season.

Would appreciate you alls views on this. Thanks OB

Sounds like you need to have a gunsmith drill and tap the musket and  then you could use quick release rings. I would perfer to see you buy a second scope to be able to leave them mounted and sighted in. What about a reasonably priced sightron or weaver scope for the combo gun and keep  the Omega for the musket.

Thanks I think I will do that. But I feel I need the muzzleloader scope on the combo because of firing the 12 ga and needing eyerelief. Oh yeah a better idea, leave the muzzleloader scope on the muzzleloader and put a shotgun scope on the combo.

I found out the muzzleloader is a Hawkin knockoff made by Interarms of Brescia Italy. Seems like its a pretty good rifle. I remember 30 years ago (the last time I shot it) I was putting 6 out of 6 balls into a pie plate at 100 yards with iron sights. I just today put a peep sight on it and will see how it does next time at the range.

Thanks for the help.
