Cant decide between the Kimber Varmint, 24 inch barrel vs. Kimber Pro-Varmint 22 inch barrel.
And scopes between the 4x16 burris signature ballistic mil dot or Leupold 4X14 Varmint reticle.... Looking for suggestions...or just flip a coin? |

The coin toss is the preferred method but I'd say since we are talking Varmit rifles you might enjoy a shorter barrel. I have had a couple of 20 in barrel Savage 10PF rifles in different calibers .223 .308 and the shorter barrel was nice as far as being a little more portable easier to get turned around in a vehicle or blind so I'm thinking I would go 22 in rather than 24. As for the scopes I'm thinking I would want something with target knobs to dial in correction. You can do that with the Leupold Custom shop for just a tad more money. There are however a couple of scopes that have target type knobs and really good glass that are close to the same price range and well worth considering.
Of these I ordered the Trijicon its a new model but I expect good things based on other models that

What caliber are you looking at in the Kimber? Of the 2 scopes mentioned it would make a difference. The Burris is geared more for a 100 yd zero where the Leupold sights zero at 200 yds. for the tables used.

the pro is more of a walking or carrying gun as in high country marmots, which is what I use it for, in .223 and with the tighter twist shoots 69 gr smk best. The 4.5x14 leo var. recticle is a great choice.

I have seen a lot of complaints on the boards of kimbers not shooting well. In that price range
you may consider a sako or a used cooper if made in the caliber you want. I like lupys well enough but other than resale the burris is probably a better value these days. I have a 4.5x14x40 ao 30mm on order right now from leupold.
