Everyone who fishes has a personal favorite.

I used to bass fish competitively, was out with my old team partner last Sunday and thought I'd share two of mine for conventional fishing.

Trilene knot (used for mono and fluorocarbon lines)

Uni Knot (used for braid)

The Palomar Knot was a very popular knot amongst many of the old timers in a bass club I once belonged to, quick and easy used for both mono and braid, just never found the love for it.

I should qualify that by saying I was a Berkley rep for almost 20 years.

🤣

We had a limited sponsorship with Berkeley for years, just line, we didn’t have to commit to using rods, reels, baits, etc.

Uni-knot is my personal favorite. Spooning rockfish in relatively shallow water taught me to appreciate the palomar. They come up green and you have to keep hard pressure on or they use the weight of the big spoons to throw the hook. The palomar is absolutely stronger than the others IF you get it tied without stressing the line.

Another one of those is the FG beats the Albright I used for years fishing inshore putting fluoro leaders on braid. The small size doesn't wear loose going through the guides like other knots, BUT you have to tie it correctly or it's worthless.

On your trilene knot, if you go back through the loop up top, like an improved clinch knot would be like, it works wonderfully for braid, or flouro, or mono. That is my go to knot.

I love a palymar. For a Rapala, I use a king sling knot.
