Hey guys...
I'm new here.

Keith, from Ontario, Canada...
I have a Leupold 6.5-20X 40mm scope on my Remington Heavy Barrel 700 Varmint 22-250 rifle and I love it!

Is there anything out there (roughly same power) cheaper that I can put on my new
Ruger Mini 14 Target Rifle (.223) with the heavy barrel???

I'm thinking Burris?? Any suggestions??

I know NCSTAR has "cheap" scopes... but are they at all near the quality of Leupold??
I doubt it!
Please fellas...
Give me some guidance!!

Thanx much!!
Keith

How about a 4-16x40 Bushnell 4200.

You could look into a Sightron SII big sky also. They have a $50 rebate on them that might save you a few bucks.

Squarehead, I live in Mississauga so hi, hope you don't mind my 2 cents. Get what you like but keep this in mind. If you buy a Leupold and want to sell it in a few years, it's easy to sell and get a large chunk of your money back. (I even sold one for more than I paid). The warrenty is great and forever. Also you're putting it on a 14 in 223 so you're doing maybe 300M? Get a scope topping out at 6x, 10 at the most and you'll be well served for 1/2 the cost of a 6-20. Epps has used Leupolds at a good discount. Just me shooting my mouth off.

Until we can convince SWFA to open a Canadian branch I would also checkout scopes at William's Arms in Port Perry.  Good people, family owned business and willing to bargain.

Not sure what your budget allows but there are several Nikon Monarch 6-24x50 on the Sample List.  Looks like the come with sunshades, various knobs and lens covers with Nikoplwx (Duplex) reticle.

Dogger, with all the people I know requiring optics, I'm surprised SWFA doesn't already have an outlet here. Aside from what most people already have, a lot of guys want to upgrade frequently, both scopes and quality bino's.

Aren't the Leupold VXIII's being discontinued?  I think they've come out with a new line.....

I have a 6.5-20x50 w/varmint reticule, leupold PRW rings, Farrell 10moa base.  It's loaded a top my Savage 12FLV in 308win, Choate stock, Harris bi-pod, tactical bolt, accutrigger set at just over a pound.  I use it with some 150gr balistic-tip Noslers loaded to about 2700fps, for "long-range varmints....  It will reach out farther than I can shoot, lol.

Try looking for a deal on the Leupy or if funds are really a problem, try a Bushnell 3200 5-15x50.  It's a great piece of glass for the money and SWFA's got them in-stock, I think.....  About $300 if I remember?
