For a tactical scope, I think that U.S. Optics has no peer.  It is as rugged as rugged can get, but it is heavy.

As far as I know, all of our products use second plane (fixed size) reticles, with the expection of the 12-40x60 tactical spotting scope.  I don't personally work on Mark 4's, so I can't say that it's that way on all of those particular models.

I do believe that Mark 4's use etched glass reticles.  I know for a fact that illuminated models have to use etched glass reticles to achieve their effect.

Please note that while I work for Leupold, this is not an official statement from them and I do not work on the Mark 4 line personally.
