I'm thinking about buying a set of Leupold PRW rings and bases for a new rifle I bought. I have not seen theese in person but they appear to be a pretty strong mount. For those that have used these or know a little about them my question is that a standard Leupold ring the top and bottom halves are an equal 50/50 to form the radius and on th PRW it looks like the top half takes up more of the radius than the bottom. So when placing the top half of the ring over the scope will it bind against the scope tube? I hope I'm explaining this right if you look at the picture of one you will see what I mean. To me it looks like the bottom of the top half would press against the scope tube when pushing the top half over the tube and mark up the tube upon installation. Anyone that has used these or have an answer let me know. Thanks |

You're correct; the top half encircles more than 180 degrees of the scope tube's circumference. It will snap over the tube easily but could scratch it, I suppose. I snap it over a piece of typing paper or Scotch tape and then slide the rings carefully on the tube to remove the paper or tape. No problems. I like those rings a lot, they are very nicely made and finished. |
