I plink through a narrow horizontal window opening. I'm worried these 50mm scopes will be too high profile for window crack shooting.  I'm about to purchase the Benjamin Marauder in 25, and need a nice low profile scope to go with her.  Suggestions / education needed!!!

I do not think that he needs an ultralight scope to go with a relatively heavy airgun and besides that a .25 has a lot of drop and he needs mil-dots and plenty of them. I suggest to you a hawke scope: http://eu.hawkeoptics.com/hawke-sidewinder-30-tactical-sf-85-25x42-20x-mil-dot.html

The Leupold suggestion is not about the mass of the scope, but the intended uses. Shooting through a small opening at any airgun ranges from 5-100 yards requires parallax adjustment down to at least 10 yards and the Leupold provides that. The glass is quite good and and will allow critter control in low light. The only suggestion I would add that is if the shooting is in first or last light, have Leupold install the standard duplex. The fine duplex can be a bit light for the darker hours.

The 8.5X on the Hawke's low end is entirely too much for close range work. I also run an airgun with mil-dot and find it of little use at airgun ranges.

Well it depends on how far you shoot at the airgun range. I think you can do quite fine up to lets say 50 yards. You have your bulls eye paper target and you are aiming maybe a bit above the outer circle depending on what kind of an airgun you have and size of the bulls eye target and so on....It is not difficult but now think about trying to hit a small bird out there at +75 yards. You could miss even a pigeon just because you miscalculated the pellet drop. Now a .25 is not affected too much by wind and the marauder .25 is an accurate airgun so it would be terrible to miss targets on the behalf of a scope with out mil-dots.

Isn't that why scopes have adjustments?

And the Leupold 3-9 EFR is a very nice scope.

Thanks for the inputs.  I should add more parameters.  Low profile and I need very close focus.  Shooting range 12 ft. to 50 ft.  Low power (less glass, more light) would be fine!

Anything come to mind?

PS how do I know if a scope will fit a Marauder?

That question makes me wonder if you even know what you want. The first thread on here and I find my self giving advice to a joker and start a debate with a leupold advertiser.

And this coming from someone who doesn't know what the adjustment knobs are for. Loco
